Postcards from Florida: Simonton Court B&B, Key West

Postcards from Florida: Simonton Court B&B, Key West

How about a romantic vacation in Simonton Court Hotel in Key West this winter? If it sounds good, please keep on reading and discover the perfect winter destination for anyone who likes it hot.

On my recent travels to the Florida Keys, I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely, relaxed atmosphere in Key West. The amazing architecture in the old part of town, plus the friendly people and lively neighbourhoods, Key West was a perfect three day stop on our Florida roadtrip.

We stayed at the Simonton Court Hotel that was a nice little surprise in a town that made us feel at home (more on Key West in an upcoming article).

The hotel is located in the heart of the Old Town. From the first moment on, I was charmed by the lovely houses and the luscious greenery surrounding the property. This historic site has been renovated to attract grown-ups who appreciate privacy and are looking for some much deserved time off. Whether you decide to sleep in their cottages, the mansion, historic house or the manor house, it’s up to you but whatever you choose, you’ll get to enjoy Key West in such a perfect and fun way.

The property is hidden in the greenery and different houses on the property are connected between them with a small path. The reception office is located in the front of the estate and is easy to spot from the street, since it’s also part of stunning Victorian architectural style found in the Old Town of Key West.

A nice touch to the property is not one, but well four pools that you can freely lounge around at any time, even in the evening hours. It was nice to jump in a pool after a long day of exploring the main tourist attractions.

In the morning a nice continental breakfast is served near the main pool area, where you will be greeted by an amazing, giant cat that guards the property so you can sleep peacefully throughout the night. After a lovely breakfast you can either decide to grab a book and relax by the pool or hop on a bycicle and head into town. All of the famous attractions, such as the Hamingway house or the Southernmost point are just minutes away.

Either way, I think you will really enjoy the Simonton court, I know I did.

Key West looks so gorgeous. Its funny because I am from Miami and have never been to Key West. I wonder did you go before or after the hurricane? I know Key West went thru a lot from the storm. This looks like a dream.

I absolutely love the look of this B&B! Smaller boutique hotels and B&Bs are my favourite. The service is always more intimate and of course, smaller hotels mean less people which is also great 😛 If I ever go to Key West I’ll look this place up.

I love Key West. Such a mix of high and low culture. $2000 glass vases in a shop next to a store that sells t-shirts with profanity on the front! Love the architecture, too. Hope you get a chance to walk up the lighthouse for the view.

I don’t think it gets cool at all… in November it was really, really summer-like. 🙂
